For frequent travelers like me, all the amenities in the world in a hotel can not make up for the people factor as I call it. The Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites in Madison, Wisconsin is not only a superb hotel with all the extras one likes in a hotel, in addition to a wonderful indoor water park, (exquisite in the winters in Wisconsin and a great attraction in the summer), but the staff at the hotel makes the difference.
When you travel about 50 weeks per year and there are more people than you think doing that, you want to feel at home when you are away. In other ways, you look for a home away from home. No request is too much for the staff and everything is done with a smile as a thank you for your business. I travel all over the world, but it feels always great to come back to my home away from home.

A great family getaway from FamilyFun
by Diane Bair and Pamela Wright
Two years ago, we hit the road with our four kids, ages six to 14, in search of FAMILYFUN's "Ten Family-Friendly Cities." The result was a list of urban gems--too many, in fact, to fit in a single article. While that story focused on giants like Chicago, Washington and San Francisco, we now present the rest of the story. Although the major cities get all the ink, these smaller cities stole our hearts with their delightful mix of small-town ease and big-city personality. One of the small cities you might like to explore on your next family getaway is appealing Madison, Wisconsin. Go there, and you'll come to know what the locals know: Good things don't always come in the biggest, fanciest packages.
A GEM OF A CITY
Bugs, boats, bones and burgers...these are just a few of the things families adore about Madison. Come to think of it, we could probably come up with a few categories for each letter of the alphabet, so rich is Madison with fun--and often free--things to do. Little wonder that this energetic little city crops up on everyone's short list of great places to live, work, raise a family, even paddle a canoe (according to PADDLER magazine) and ride a bike (says BICYCLING). Madison has all the well-scrubbed appeal you'd expect from a midwestern town set in dairy land, and the proximity of two lakes and a Big Ten university adds to the long list of things to see and do.
Now, about those "b" words: bugs refers to the giant hissing cockroaches we encountered at the University of Wisconsin, Madison's Entomology Museum. Boat is the Betty Lou, offering cruises on Lake Mendota, one of the lakes that surround the narrow isthmus that is Madison. As for bones and burgers, read on....
WHO KNEW? That Madison has more bikes than cars and nearly 100 miles of bike trails. Pedal around the Lake Monona Path for cool views.
LOCAL DIGS The newly opened Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites boasts a waterpark-worthy kiddie pool with slides and fountains. Kids' suites (which include bunk beds) are $189 to $259 per night. Kids under age 12 eat free at the hotel's restaurant. Call 888-522-WISCO.

I would like to compliment you on making our stay a wonderful experience. There were two adults and three children in your party. We arrived around 6:30 Friday night and checked out Sunday at 10:00 am. The room we were given was very clean and we enjoyed the look out over the pool. The kids had a wonderful time. Everything could not of been nicer. All your staff are very nice. We did order room service a couple of times and Sergio (sp) was very polite. We ate at the Easter buffet and that also was excellent. We will stay at your hotel again. We will be telling people how much of a nice time we had also. You know, a person could always go to Wisconsin Dells and pay 300.00 a night and be packed in like animals or a person could come the Holiday Inn West in Madison and have a great time. Again thank you for an enjoyable weekend.

April 19, 2007 "It is obvious that your hotel values customer service and I experienced this throughout my stay, but one employee went above and beyond. Bob the Van Driver wowed me. From the time he greeted me at baggage claim. He described the city during our drive. He provided helpful information about different locations. He followed through on making sure I had reservations for the van transportation during my stay and in-fact discovered that my pre-arrival van reservation was scheduled for the wrong location. Bob wowed me by offering to take me to Culver's for lunch. I enjoyed our visit."
